The Mass for Deceased members of our community was held on Saturday 13 June at the Goan Community Association’s Centre in North London.  People who were used to attending this gathering during the month of November questioned as to why the Goan Association was holding this event at this time rather than later in the year.  Simple, because it does not have to be held then and the more clement weather favours those less able or mobile to attend.

The mass was celebrated by Fr Francis Rosario SFX, who based his homily on our much-loved and popular St Anthony, whose feast was also being celebrated globally that day.  Prayers were then said for all our deceased and the names of the recent dead were read out.   More prayers were also offered for those of our community who are suffering or ill and especially for those who care for them.  Later, Flavio Gracias thanked Fr Francis and all those who had participated in the mass.  He added his appreciation to Nina Pinto and Bernie Gracias (one of whom was also celebrating her birthday) for their invaluable help behind the scenes.  An ample and tasty lunch – prepared by Grace Coutinho – then followed and finally a raffle was held with the proceeds being handed to Candy Fernandes, Chair of the GCA.

We look forward to seeing more of you at this beautiful service next year.
