The Goan Association (UK) is a voluntary organisation founded in 1966 and incorporated as The G.O.A (UK) Ltd in 1983.
The management body comprises of a Board of 6 Elected Directors supported by a Legal and Admin Director (for names and telephone numbers, see under CONTACT US on the Website menu). All office-bearers serve in a voluntary capacity and this has been the case since its inception.
Following the loss of our Clubhouse by fire in September 1998, the company also lost its registered offices. At the present time the registered address is:
Office 7, 35-37 Ludgate Hill, London. EC47JN
The Goan Association (UK) continues to organise social, cultural and sports activities for its members which currently total just over 700. Details of all our events are listed under DIARY OF EVENTS on this website. A number of our activities, particularly sporting tournaments, are member-initiated and we are grateful for this support.
We also endeavour to provide limited welfare assistance to our community and our aim to increase the scope of this service in the future.
The successful settlement of the insurance claim, resulting from the tragic loss of our Clubhouse and the sale of the playing fields (both located in Ravensbourne Avenue, Beckenham, Kent) has left the company in a very sound financial position. This has allowed the Goan Association (UK) to look ahead and, with this in mind, the Board set up a working party to consider our “Future Direction”. Its final report was presented to the general body at the EGM in September 2005. As a result, it was agreed to call a forum of members, in March 2006, to finalise our plans and to follow this with an EGM to obtain approval from the membership.
