Dear Golfers

We have pleasure in inviting you to the 22nd Annual GOA (UK) Golf Open Tournament.  This year’s competition will be held at Farleigh Golf Club, full address as stated above.

Please complete the Registration Form and return it with your remittance before the closing date 1st June 2024. There will be a waiting list in place therefore if you are unable to play, please let the organisers know ASAP.

All club competition handicaps under the WHS rules should be provided in advance. Players without a club handicap should provide handicaps based on their current playing performance and give details such as society secretary whom organisers can call to verify.  Such handicaps will not be higher than those entered in previous GOA golf competitions.  Organisers reserve the right to amend these handicaps before the competition, based on known general play of entrant.

Important details:

• The maximum handicap is 28 for men and 36 ladies.  The format of the competition will be Stableford with 90% of the handicap allowance.
• There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Men’s GOA Members and Non-Members and prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the Lady golfers.
• Prizes for nearest the pin on all par 3’s and the longest drive.
• Prize for group of players with net (after 90% deduction) handicap of 21+
• Costs will be £55.00 for GOA members, £65.00 for Non-GOA members.  This will cover coffee/tea, bacon/veggie roll, a round of golf, course refreshments, and a two course evening meal commencing 6.30PM. Should you wish to have the full English breakfast, this is available for an additional cost of £11.50, however, this must be pre-ordered on the registration form and redeemed no later than 11am on the day.
  Guests not playing can be accommodated for dinner only in the evening for a cost of £20.00. Please indicate on the Registration form the numbers that will be joining.
• Reporting time 10.00am   Bacon bap (veggie option is available – please indicate on registration form), tea/coffee on arrival.
• First tee off 12.06 noon and then every 8 minutes thereafter.  This year we have a Two tee start.  2 Penalty points for the group if late on the 1st  or 10th tees.  Team Captains will be responsible for ensuring slow play is avoided in their groups.
• Strict adherence to the R&A rules of golf, particularly those aiming for the winner’s prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
• No buggies or caddies allowed – unless not competing for 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize and players must consult organisers in advance to arrange separate tee grouping.

The event is run on an extremely tight budget with absolute reliance on donations.   Please support us as we try to give you a good day of golf as well as connecting with friends again.   Any surplus after costs will be donated to a charity.  If you would like to sponsor a hole, donate raffle prizes or help in any way during the day, please contact Sandra by email sandra@sfernandes.com
