Ivan Joseph Fernandes

12th April 1951 – 1st July 2025

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the death of Ivan Joseph Fernandes aged 74, known as Dada to his children and grandchildren. He was the doted on, only son of the late Domnic and Innocencia Fernandes (neé D’Souza), devoted husband to Fay, dutiful father to Domnic and Serena, welcoming father-in-law to Roshan and loving grandfather to Marie, Lily, Rose and George.

Born in Nairobi, he studied at Dr Riberio’s Goan School and was sent to boarding school in Buckinghamshire at the tender age of 13. He qualified from The Royal London Hospital as a dentist and set up his own practice where he worked for over 35 years. He was a dedicated clinician and was appreciated by patients and staff alike. He had a real thirst for knowledge, a passion for computers and new technology and enjoyed going on many cruises.

He fought a valiant battle against cancer and other health problems so that he could spend as much time as he could with his beloved wife, the person he cherished the most in the whole world. He died peacefully at St George’s Hospital with his wife, daughter and son-in-law by his side. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched but his legacy will most certainly live on.

The funeral will take place on Friday 11th July 2025 at 11:30am
at St. John Fisher Church, 207 Cannon Hill Lane, London, SW20  9DB.

Burial at 1:30pm at Morden Cemetery (Battersea New), Lower Morden Lane, SM4 4NU. Followed by the wake at the family home in Morden.
