Olinda d’Souza Fernandes

Born: 06.10.1924 in Zosvaddo Socorro Bardez, Died: 16.06. 2025 – Ganjoni, Mombasa, Kenya

Our family are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved mother, Olinda Hermina D’Souza Fernandes, beloved mother to Angela, Celestino and Lynn, doting grandmother to LisaMarie, Salome and Abi, Simon and Joseph, Sean and Krystal and great-grandmother to Elsa and Isaac, Quentin and Oliver, Arlo, Taron & Maisie, Jack and Oliver and Lily & Bennett, and mother-in-law to Allan, Catherine and Xavier.

Olinda touched the lives of many with her generosity of spirit assisting those in need financially. She was the mainstay of our family and will be sorely missed for her wisdom and guidance but forever remembered with fondness, love and respect by all who knew her for being a Headmistress of Valentine’s High School in Ganjoni Mombasa and for her kindness to anyone in need especially the poor students in her schools unable to pay school fees.  She brought us up to work hard and be successful.  She had a strong personality and a no-nonsense attitude which was admired by all.

The funeral mass will take place at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Nkrumah Road, Mombasa Kenya on Monday 23 June 2025 at 2pm Kenya time, followed by a burial service at Mbaraki Cemetery.  A “Youtube” livestream has been arranged for the service at https://youtu.be/GnqqDG4W30A?si=clz2u462ipAhOces
